University of Minnesota: Physicians overstepped authority in Fairview agreement
The University of Minnesota s Board of Regents passed a unanimous resolution Thursday calling out University of Minnesota Physicians over their latest agreement with Fairview Soundness Services MPR News reports the resolution stated the physicians group overstepped its authority as the university s clinical faculty practice by negotiating terms to fund the university s health school for the next years without prior consultation with the U Attorney General Keith Ellison commented in a message Wednesday that the university was aware of negotiations between Fairview and UMP As the regents state their stance the Minnesota Star Tribune says U doctors remain positive They write that while the regents claim the doctors acted unlawfully the interim chief of the doctors group says it s no different from other deals in the past At least two Twin Cities Starbucks stores are participating in a nationwide strike in response to ongoing labor negotiations with the company Bring Me The News says the strike began on the company s Red Cup Day one of their busiest sales days and at this moment has no end date Unionized baristas went on strike Thursday at Silver Lake Road NE in St Anthony Another location at Lake Drive East in Chanhassen is set to join the strike on Saturday After a summer windstorm impacted millions of trees in the Bemidji area the Minnesota Forestry Association is now stepping up KAXE reports the organization hosted the first of two webinars on reforesting the area They also shared programs available to woodland property owners Lori Barrow a Minnesota Department of Natural Guidance forestry specialist out of the Bemidji office explained the DNR s urgency calamity funds can cost-share up to to prepare damaged wooded lands for reforestation And in another part of northern Minnesota a helicopter is helping rebuild the Superior Hiking Trail in parts that are hard to access on the ground WDIO reports the Trails Anonymous helicopter is delivering lumber and other supplies to Split Rock River Loop The post University of Minnesota Physicians overstepped authority in Fairview agreement appeared first on MinnPost
