Since Barbie debuted in the character has appeared in countless adaptations from animated feature films to Greta Gerwig s eponymous movie With the franchise s growing popularity it s no surprise that the doll has inspired other mediums and one look at Minnehaha Falls Art Fair vendor Nicole Houff s photography will prompt nostalgia for when Barbie rose to fame I was inevitably drawn to more vintage items like old cars and mannequins so that s and s aesthetic really stuck with me which of module Barbie fits right in Houff whose business name is self-titled mentioned Nicole Houff holds up one of depict dolls often Barbie and even her boyfriend Ken in different scenes such as at the lake in the kitchen and more The first part of the process of program is the basic concept Then it s an adventure from like OK here I have this idea in my head like Barbie and Ken at the lake It s like how do I get that concept to an actual functioning photograph she declared Once she s conceptualized her idea Houff based out of Minneapolis stated she starts with a photo of the scene s background That s hanging in the studio behind the dolls and then I ll build all the rest of the scene she declared Houff who went back to school to inquiry commercial photography then works her magic with lighting camera angles and positioning to make the image come to life It s really technical-oriented but to me that journey from idea to building out the scene in the studio is the best part she announced Houff joined dozens of fellow creatives at the annual Minnehaha Falls Art Fair this weekend
